Born in 1973, Sonia Kallel is a Tunisian scholar and artist. After having spent several years in France, Sonia decided to move back to her home country, Tunisia, in 2005 where she divides her time between her art practice and her courses at the National School of Architecture and Urbanism of Tunis. She has a diversified academic and artistic background: from fashion design at the School of Fashion Industries of Toulouse in France to graphic arts at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis to a PhD in Fine Arts at the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. Her artwork has been exhibited in France, Tunisia and internationally. Since 2010, she has developed a strong interest in shedding the light on hidden communities through art.
